Be the Change for Kids is an initiative backed by the Task Force for Optimizing School District Resources, a statewide coalition of education partners formed to help school leaders optimize resources and embrace new methods of teaching and learning that will improve results.
We believe that public education leaders, including school boards, must find new ways to optimize their financial resources amid extraordinary financial pressures. We also urge education leaders to embrace new methods of delivering educational programs and services that will empower students to learn and succeed.
Be the Change for Kids is built upon the premise that school board members and school administrators have primary responsibility for balancing school budgets, but legislators and the public must be part of the solution, too. Our History Be the Change for Kids is the outgrowth of a resolution that was passed at the 2007 New York State School Boards Association Annual Convention. That resolution resulted in the formation of the Task Force on Maximizing Resources, also known as the Task Force for Optimizing School Resources. The group, comprised of a cross-section of people and organizations involved in public education, later produced a report with 55 ideas that school could be doing to be more efficient. That report and 55 solutions is contained within the Be the Change for Kids website. |
